 Recruitment FAQ

What is Recruitment?
Recruitment is a period in which interestees (any females who are interested in the sorority) get to know sisters and vice versa through various planned activities and events. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and expand your horizons. This is a chance to learn more about what Delta Phi Lambda represents, what we do as a chapter, and how we help our community.
How much does recruitment cost me?
Absolutely nothing! All recruitment events are 100% FREE for interested undergraduate women and all food, supplies, and rides will be provided by Sisters.
What happens after recruitment?
After the recruitment period, formal bids (invitations to continue the process to become a part of Delta Phi Lambda) may be given. For those that are serious about joining the Delta Phi Lambda family, an attendance of 2/3 of the recruitment events are mandatory for consideration.
What are the requirements in order to join Delta Phi Lambda?
We, at Delta Phi Lambda, welcome females of all nationalities who share a common goal of promoting Asian Awareness through sisterhood and would love to have the opportunity to meet, talk, and befriend you.
In addition you must:
  • Be 18 years of age
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.7
  • Participate in a formal interview at the end of recruitment
Do I have to be Asian to be a member of Delta Phi Lambda?
Absolutely not! As an Asian-interest sorority, we are looking for passionate, dedicated, and spirited young women who will advocate for the minority experience and can bring a unique perspective to the organization. As such, we do not discriminate membership on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status or disability. Undergraduate females from any and all backgrounds who share our values in promoting Asian awareness and female leadership are highly encouraged to participate in recruitment or start a chapter on their campus.
Do I have a chance to receive a bid if I am a junior, senior, international or a non-traditional aged student?
Of course! We do not discriminate on your class standing or age. We have had many sisters initiate into the sorority as a junior, senior, international and non-traditional aged student. They have the same opportunities as lower-classman to receive a bid and to create a memorable sorority experience. Plus, this is an everlasting sisterhood. We give many opportunities after graduation to continue giving back to the sorority.
Does your sorority haze?
No chapter, colony, member or alumna of Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. condones hazing in any form. For more information about hazing and our policy on it, click here.
